Our Markets  |  Cloud Computing  |  DBaaS (Database as a Service)

A significant and ever increasing proportion of our technology recruitment falls within the fields of data related projects and those connected to “big data”. Alongside major projects run on in-house databases, there is also a clearly established trend towards using cloud databases on platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Rackspace. Cloud databases can either run independently in the cloud using virtual machine images or via access to Database as a Service (DBaaS).

Clients are able to use the advantages of not owning their own database, but instead driving cost and efficiency benefits by accessing remote databases such as AWS Database Services, Simple DB, Amazon Relational Database Service or Dynamo DB. Alternatively they can have a managed database hosted in the cloud for example as offered by Rackspace, who offer managed hosting on MySQL and NoSQL databases via Mongo DB.

Cornwallis Elt has worked on recruitment projects both for providers and clients in roles spanning architecture, engineering, data analysis (both technical and commercial), data visualisation & data science, database performance and cloud based server engineering and availability.
