TechSheCan Charity Launch Event

Techshecan

Yesterday afternoon, our WIT committee had the privilege to attend the TechSheCan charity launch event. The charity was created to inspire young people to pursue careers in technology and to help the gender imbalance within tech.

As we know, the Women in Tech stats are still not where they need to be and TechSheCan aims to change this ratio by teaching children about technology, and the careers they can pursue in a fun and interactive way. There are only 10% of female leaders in Tech, and this will only start to change for the better if companies support initiatives like TechSheCan.

They had Priya Guha MBE as the key note speaker who was particularly inspiring as she ran through her journey from becoming a Diplomat to entering the Tech space later in her career, talking through what hurdles she had to face. They also had some of their impressive trustees talk about the great steps that are being taken at firms such as Centrica and Zoopla, who have 50/50 gender split internship programmes already well underway.

In short, it is clear that more diverse workplaces are more successful! Thanks again to TechSheCan for a great event and nice to be attending in person events again too!
