Anecdote vs. evidence - the smart working debate | Industry Forum

Cornwallis Social Graphics (5)

Last week, we were thrilled to host another ‘View from the Top’ industry forum. Our event, chaired by Laura Weatherup of Columbia Threadneedle Investments, brought together global heads of operations and COO’s from large asset management organisations to discuss hybrid working, work/home strategies and Plan B and beyond.

In our closed, Chatham House rules environment, designed to increase openness of discussion; Martin Devitt and David Storey of EY presented market intelligence from a range of recently conducted surveys from both employees and employers. Amongst other insights, one of the key takeaways, and discussion points, was how the survey-based data and results were not consistent with widely held anecdotal views around smart working.

A huge thank you to Laura Weatherup, Martin Devitt and David Storey, as well as our own Henry Hickley for organising.

Our ‘View from the Top’ forums are confidential sessions aimed at giving industry leaders within the asset management, investment banking, and insurance markets a space to converse, solve problems and share solutions on the industry and talent challenges faced by a variety of organisations.

Our next sessions, which focus on data management, data curation and what the buy-side can learn from other industries, are being held virtually on Thursday 27th January and Wednesday 2nd February.
