A global Investment management firm are looking for a contract Azure Data Engineer to join for an initial 6months.
 
Joining a team that has doubled in size over the last 2 years, the Technology department relies on some 3rd party vendors for client services, security operations, monitoring etc. but the core platform is built and supported internally on Azure.  Part of their current remit is to drive the adoption of the digital cloud platform providing etl/data integration pipelines, data transformation, data staging, data warehouse reporting and analytics using core Azure technologies, all introduced within the last 12-18 months.
 
You would work alongside a team of architects, developers, application support specialists and delivery teams to provide data engineering expertise in support of several major integration, data analytics and reporting projects.
 
You will implement, provide some support, and continuously improve the Azure Data Stack in Technology. The Specialist also works closely with other IT Teams notably Platform Services and SharePoint/M365.
 
As a Data Engineer, you will bring your experience in Azure data technologies and your core responsibilities include:
  • Actively delivering work for key business programs advising and supporting the further adoption of the digital data platform foundations.
  • Coordinating changes across business change, technology change management process, incident management and problem management process.
  • Communicating with project managers, and technical and business change teams to develop trust.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements from Data through design, build, testing and scope changes.
 
Experience needed:
  • Proven record working with Azure relational and NoSQL databases, data warehouses, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Highly experienced in building and optimizing data queries. Good with manipulating, processing and preparing datasets.
  • Highly experienced in working with data engineering technologies including ADLS, ADF, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, and Azure Synapse, PowerBI and can create E2E data processing pipelines.
  • Good working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python/PySpark.
  • A good understanding of data foundation concepts, such as data modelling, data quality management and data governance.
  • Previously created or enhanced CI/CD build and release pipelines using Azure DevOps and GIT.
  • Knowledge of other scripting languages such as YAML, PowerShell, Terraform etc.
