Operations Director - Transport Sector
Location: Hull
Salary: £75,000 - £80,000 per annum
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Director with a strong background in transport and logistics to join our client in Hull. This role is crucial for driving operational excellence, ensuring the seamless running of transport services, and delivering strategic growth across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Lead and inspire the operations team to achieve business objectives, with a focus on improving service delivery, efficiency, and operational standards.
- Operational Strategy: Develop and implement the operational strategy to ensure alignment with the company’s growth goals, improving productivity and cost efficiency across the transport network.
- Performance Monitoring: Oversee daily transport operations, ensuring compliance with KPIs, safety regulations, and company policies. Regularly review and refine performance metrics to meet business targets.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the operational budget, focusing on cost controls, resource allocation, and achieving financial performance goals.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for continuous improvement across transport operations, driving initiatives that enhance service quality, reduce downtime, and optimize fleet utilization.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Lead initiatives to improve safety culture across the team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, clients, and other departments to ensure cohesive operational delivery and client satisfaction. Act as a key point of contact for major stakeholders.
- Fleet & Asset Management: Oversee fleet maintenance, logistics planning, and asset utilization to ensure efficiency and operational readiness.
- People Development: Manage and mentor the operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience as an Operations Director or in a senior management role within the transport or logistics sector.
- Strong knowledge of transport operations, fleet management, and logistics planning.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams and influence cross-functional departments.
- Demonstrable experience in process improvement, operational efficiency, and cost control.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and performance monitoring.
- Excellent understanding of safety regulations, compliance standards, and transport laws.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
