Scrum Master – Project manager – Agile
6-month initial contract (Outside IR35)
 
A global insurer is looking for a Scrum Master to join on a contract basis, initially on a 6-month contract with the programme of work set to last 2-4 years.
The Scrum Master will join a programme of work to deliver the successful migration to the cloud (Azure) and you will be required to work closely with the SME’s who will be delivering the architecture including the design and roadmap for this project.
 
You will be responsible for:
The effective Scrum Management for successful delivery:
  • Appropriate sizing / membership of scrum teams
  • Lead scrums – brief but effective mtgs with clarity over done/to do/ blockers
  • Able to spot the key issues that need offline leadership resolution
  • Successfully pushing, appropriately, for results
  • Comms / cascade to ensure all are capable, included
SAFe disciplines:
  • Hold all key ceremonies (Retrospectives / Programme Increment Planning / Sprint planning etc)
  • Develop / publish key artefacts for reporting out
  • Leadership in the principles of the discipline
Project Management:
  • Drive a bottom-up plan which is understood and represents a shared vision
  • Communicate key critical path activities to owners
  • Measure and report progress
  • Publish the plan and executive views of the plan
  • High exceptions / changes, and be disciplined in holding the baselined plan until formally changed / re-published
Tool Usage:
  • Ensure tooling is used effectively, limiting use of offline tracking
  • Validate data – ensure accuracy
  • Seek to use tooling for all ceremonies
  • Deliver as much reporting from tooling as possible
 
Experience needed:
  • PM / Scrum Master with Design / Architecture
  • PM / Agile trained – SAFe preferable
  • Some Agile tool experience – preferably JIRA or Azure Dev Ops
  • Excellent experience delivering to tight timescales with shared (non-dedicated) resources
  • Disciplined, rigorous, eye for detail
  • Strong leader upwards (reporting, comms) and downwards (leadership, problem solving)
  • Certified Scrum Master
 
Desired experience:
  • Infrastructure / Architectural project delivery experience
  • Knowledge of Standards / Guidelines / Principles delivery – or other technical documentation is beneficial
