My client, a leading global investment bank, is currently looking for an experienced System Administrator to join the organisation.

The role, sitting within Market Valuation and Risk Management Technology. MVRM systems enables the bank’s Risk functions and trading businesses to calculate, generate, analyse, and report on major risk and capital metrics to regulators.

The platform is currently undergoing a strategic migration to google cloud. This is a key role to work with the Platform team to build out and maintain the estate on-premises and off-premises (cloud).

Your key responsibilities
 
  • Prepare hardware for production use and manage application onboarding activities
  • Work with Platform team to build automated solutions to provide consistent installation of core Linux packages and settings
  • Work closely with UNIX engineering to keep our estate compliant and relevant with applicable security and monitoring processes
  • Develop and maintain system integration for hardware stability and capacity monitoring
  • Set up and troubleshoot network connectivity required for application operations and participate in production issue diagnosis
 
Your skills and experience
 
  • Expert UNIX/Linux skills (advanced user/system administrator) including deep hands-on experience with UNIX shell (bash/ksh) 
  • Strong Networking knowledge: Ethernet basics, TCP/IP administration (routing, firewalls, etc)
  • Experience of working on a distributed low-latency system
  • Experience of tech stack improvements and optimizations (latency, throughput, and memory) as well as infrastructure (Co-Location, multicast, dedicated networks)
  • Working Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Perl). Knowledge of Windows administration/scripting is an advantage
