Engineering Manager - Java, Python, GCP, Agile, Lean, Financial Services, InsureTech, Permanent - London 

An Engineering Manager is required by a truly innovative organisation who are successfully attempting to disrupt traditional insurance with the use of algorithmic broker trading. They are a unique organisation that utilise their expertise in speciality insurance and combine this with cutting edge technological advancements to evolve underwriting intelligently and unlock its potential on a large scale.

The business is looking for somebody to join to develop and build a successful engineering team as they expand on their high-achieving group so far. The role is a blend of the management of their broker platform, defining the business strategic direction and the delivery of technical products offered based on their platform. Essentially, they are looking for a great 'people' manager and somebody who can drive initiatives throughout the business. 

On a wider scale, you will be responsible for the overarching Engineering squad which consists of 25 Engineers really ensuring the successful development of their careers within the business. Furthermore, you will be required to act as an advocate for the business's technological vision within the engineering community coupled with the management of their platform, broader architecture and overall Engineering function. 

To be successful in this role you must possess the following: 

- Prior experience in building and managing a successful Engineering team.
- A solid understanding of maintaining a team's focus on delivery as well as having experience of Agile and Lean methodologies. 
- Prior experience of Software Development within Financial Markets, FinTech or InsureTech's would be great. 
- A background in development with strong prior experience in languages and frameworks such as Java, Python, JavaScript, Kotlin, Spring Boot and Flask. 
- Any exposure to the cloud would be held in high regard with GCP being the preferred.
