Finance Operations Consultant – Contract, London, £750 - £810 p/d Outside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Finance Operations Consultant to support a leading London market insurer with strong Lloyd's of London market experience. This role will focus on technical and non-technical operational management and cost optimisation across IT, operations, and other business units. You will play a key role in analysing financials, identifying efficiencies, and supporting wider finance transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily finance operations and ensure smooth running of BAU activities.
- Analyse financial performance across IT, operations, and other business units to identify cost optimisation opportunities
- Support the CFO with financial reporting and operational decision-making
- Lead and manage a team, including direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture
- Contribute to the broader finance transformation programme, aligning operational improvements with strategic goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial governance standards
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in finance operations within the London insurance market, specifically Lloyd's of London
- Qualified Accountant with a demonstrated understanding of process and process (re)design, accounting double entry, critical thinking skills and problem- solving abilities
- Knowledge of insurance products with an understanding of what it takes to implement an insurance product on a sub-system such that the desired accounting flow to GL is achieved and supports external reporting requirements e.g. for GAAP and Sil
- Proven leadership skills managing medium-sized teams (30-35 people) with direct reports
- Ability to analyse complex financial data and identify optimisation opportunities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
