Job Title: Head of Actuarial
London - Hybrid
Salary: £140,000 - £150,000 per annum

Our client, a specialty insurer, is on the lookout for a Head of Actuarial to join their expanding Actuary team in London. If you're passionate about leveraging your expertise to solve complex challenges and drive business growth within this sector, then please apply.

The role:
§  Manage all aspects of actuarial required for the IFRS17 calculations, Reporting & Analytics
§ Ensure maintenance of key documents for the tools used for the IFRS17 calculations
§ Identify opportunities and deliver improvements in the IFRS17 valuation processes and methodologies
§ Ensure governance maintenance around actuarial IFRS17
§ Identify and implement any process improvements for IFRS17
§ Build constructive working arrangements with those groups identified as being key to your role
§ Communicate with Key Stakeholders and members of C-Suite comfortably
§ Operate as an effective team member by supporting direct reports and contributing to the delivery and achievement of overall team and business objectives
§ Identify opportunities and deliver improvements in the IFRS17 valuation processes and methodologies
§ Undertake applicable professional, technical and career development training


Skills and Abilities:
§ Beneficial to have Solvency 2 experience.
§ MS Excel; VBA and Access/SQL skills are desirable
§ Analytical skills with attention to detail
§ Organise a high performing team as well as able to work initiatively
§ Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with stakeholders at all levels
§ Manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise
§ Inspire and motivate a high performing team

Knowledge and Experience:
§ Reserving and IFRS17 experience; Lloyd’s market knowledge is desirable
§ Detailed knowledge of actuarial valuation techniques, including those used within pricing and capital modelling
§ Detailed knowledge of reinsurance and its impact on reserving
§ Proven people and project/task management experience - preferred
§ Outcome focussed, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
§ Stakeholder Engagement
